Youth Consultation Events 2012

Derbyshire County Council is currently undertaking a website consultation www.derbyshire.gov.uk/youthservice2012 and a series of Youth Consultation Events on Youth Provision in Derbyshire. The Youth Consultation Event for Amber Valley is to be held at the Genisis Centre, Alfreton on Friday, 3^rd February 2012, starting at 5.30 pm (refreshments) with the meeting starting a 6.pm and ending at 7.30pm.

Youth Provision in Somercotes

“Cllr Paul Smith, Chairman of the Parish Council, says that he is extremely concerned about the future of youth work throughout Derbyshire. Somercotes will ultimately be affected with the closure of the youth club. Negotiations are being undertaking to utilise the Youth Centre building for new youth provision in Somercotes to support the community. The government is hoping that community groups and the voluntary sector will provide youth opportunities through bidding for funding held by the MAT (Multi-Agency Teams). The Parish Council will discuss youth provision in Somercotes, at its next meeting, on Friday, 20^th January 2012”.     

A paper petition on the loss of Youth provision in Somercotes will be available in the Parish Council Office and Somerlea Park Community Centre for signing.
