NOTICE OF ELECTION
ELECTION OF PARISH COUNCILLORS For the PARISH OF SOMERCOTES
1. An election is to be held for the following PARISH COUNCILLORS for the above Parish:
13 Parish Councillors
2. Nomination papers may be obtained from the offices of the Returning Officer, Town Hall, Market Place, Ripley, Derbyshire DE5 3BT during normal office hours stated below.
3. Completed nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer at the Council Offices Main Reception, Town Hall, Market Place, Ripley, Derbyshire DE5 3BT on any date after the date of this notice, but no later than 4pm on Tuesday 4 April 2023. Office opening hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9am – 4.30pm and on Wednesdays 10am – 4.30pm (excluding Bank Holidays).
4. If an election is contested the poll will take place on THURSDAY 4 MAY 2023.
5. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by midnight on Monday 17 April 2023. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
6. Applications, amendments, re-directions or cancellations of postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Town Hall, Market Place, Ripley, Derbyshire DE5 3BT by 5pm on Tuesday 18 April 2023.
7. Applications for Voter Authority Certificate at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Town Hall, Market Place, Ripley, Derbyshire DE5 3BT by 5pm on Tuesday 25 April 2023. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate
8. Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Town Hall, Market Place, Ripley, Derbyshire DE5 3BT by 5pm on Tuesday 25 April 2023.
9. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of physical incapacity or for work/service reasons, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Town Hall, Market Place, Ripley, Derbyshire DE5 3BT by 5pm on Thursday 4 May 2023. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5pm on Tuesday 25 April 2023. To apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5pm on Thursday 25 April 2023.
