Dear Resident
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who, over the last 25 years, voted for me and supported me in the Derbyshire County Council elections. It was a real pleasure to work on your behalf and take up issues for you and your families which were varied, from the smallest and quickest to resolve to the more complex. I am always the first to admit not everything was right but I hope most of the changes have improved the area from investment in schools to safer roads and support for volunteers and community groups, investment in our young people and the environment eg Pennytown Ponds and many tree planting schemes throughout the area.
There are still improvements taking place from my time on the Council which were approved when I was still a Member of Derbyshire County Council which have only just started to be carried out with further developments to come.
I hope I have left the areas I represented in a better place than when I came on to the Council in 1996 and I hope the new Councillors carry on being a strong voice for the community and continue to fight for the investment in this area.
I will continue to be a Councillor on Somercotes Parish Council and look forward to working, as I have always done, for all the community.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone “all the best” in these unprecedented times which have impacted on everyone.
Thank you and take care,
Paul Smith
