Birchwood Lane Allotment threw open its doors on 18th August 2018.  The event attracted many visitors.  Attractions included Children’s  Tractor Rides, BBQ, , Tombola, Vegetable, Toy, Cake Stalls, Face Painting and Guided Tours.  A  great day was enjoyed by all.  In addition the Association raised  £340 which will be used to maintain and improve allotment facilities. 

Incidentally, the allotment has some plots available for hire; most for under £20 per year.  It’s a great way to meet other people whilst enjoying some home grown produce.  Contact Col on 07912887904 if you’re interested.  

New Compost Toilet

Birchwood Lane Allotment Society recently completed the installation of a compost toilet on its allotment. The society was successful in obtaining enough funding to install two toilets on the site, with the second currently in the pipeline. The work was undertaken by allotment members and materials were purchased with a grant obtained from Somercotes Parish Council
