The Parish Council provides grants every year to encourage and support local clubs, groups and organisations.  So far this year, twelve applicants have received grants.

Chairman of the Parish Council, (Cllr Paul Smith) said  “It is always a great pleasure to present these awards.  The Parish Council is delighted to support the excellent contribution local groups and organisations make to the community”.    

So far, a total of £5000 has been awarded this year.  Any club, society or organisation based in the Parish or providing a service for residents of the Parish can apply.

Cheque presentation to Ridding’s Cricket Club to fund a new artificial wicket.  Many of the members are from the Somercotes area.

Cllr Smith and  fellow County Councillor presenting a cheque for £500 to The  Pyehill and District Male Voice Choir to help fund a number of concerts  The choir  regularly gives concerts in churches, community centres, nursing homes, hotels and conference centres throughout the East Derbyshire and West Nottinghamshire area
