Quality Parish Council status
by Parish Council on Sunday 3 September 2017
The official opening day of the Feature Garden on Somercotes Market Place took place on Saturday 29th July 2017
The garden is sited on the former public toilets plot on Somercotes Market Place.
Chairman of the Council (Cllr Paul Smith) officially opened the garden, ably assisted by the retiring Parish Clerk, Soo Massey. Rev’d Imogen Black (St Thomas Parish Church) carried out a short blessing ceremony on the garden
The event was well attended with the additional bonus of free ice creams for children!
The Council hopes that the feature will feel a welcoming place and be well used by the community either as a meeting place or simply as a stopping point to eat lunch or rest.
