Planning Ahead To Christmas 2010
by Parish Council on Saturday 6 February 2010
Plans are in progress for a much improved, up-to-date festive light display in the parish for Christmas 2010. Unfortunately, the motifs which had been used for the last few years were constantly in need of repair and money was continually having to be spent on these repairs, which meant money was not available for newer lights. To avoid throwing ‘good money after bad’ each year, a decision was made that, for Christmas 2009 only, there would be a much reduced display to enable funds to be saved for new festive lighting, and local businesses who normally had motifs on their properties were informed of this. It was decided to purchase new lights for the Christmas tree as a start towards improving the festive lighting. Many residents commented on how beautiful the Christmas tree looked but, unfortunately, on only the second evening after the installation of the lights, vandals fused them, and they had to be replaced by less attractive lights which were less easy to vandalise. We hope all residents will be pleased with the planned display for Christmas 2010.
