The service was very well attended despite the appalling weather. Once again there were fine performances by Heage Band and the Choir of the Somercotes St. Thomas Guides, Brownies & Rainbows.  Councillor Paul Smith, Chairman of the Parish Council, welcomed everyone, and Michael Woods, Churchwarden, gave a reading during the service and a blessing to close the service. Councillor Smith invited everyone to the Village Hall for light refreshments following the service, and many people accepted the invitation. A collection was taken during the service for the Chairman’s chosen
charity, which this year was the Multiple Sclerosis Society UK, and £152 was raised.
