Somercotes Parish Council is acutely aware that many residents are struggling to make ends meet in these tough times of austerity. The Council, although continuing to maintain services and take on additional responsibilities from the Borough Council, such as the Car Parks, agreed that the precept will not increase for 2013-14. The Council Precept for the next financial year will remain at £137,656.00.

The Chairman, Cllr Paul Smith, said “It is important that we continue to maintain our level of services whilst considering the hardship many of our residents are having during these times of austerity. The Council will continue to seek ‘value for money’ provision of services from contractors and maximise cost effective ways of managing the budgets.”
