Our Parish Wardens were nominated for Derbyshire County Council’s Excellence in the Community Award 2012 by Freda Garget and Patrick Morriss, for their hard work keeping Somercotes clean and free from rubbish.  Their nominators said that Colin and Les go far beyond what they are tasked to do and always do it with a cheery disposition.  Colin and Les really care about the appearance of Somercotes and take pride in the work they do.

The awards ceremony took place at the Devonshire Dome, Buxton, on Monday, 15^th October.  Colin wasn’t well enough to attend as he is recovering from a major operation in September, so Les accepted the award on Colin’s behalf.  He was, however, well enough to have this photograph taken two weeks later with Les. I’m sure you will all join us in wishing Colin a full and speedy recovery.
