Awards were presented by Amber Valley CVS on Thursday, 1^st March, 2012, at Somercotes Infant School, to several local residents:

Geraldine Johnson, Ginny Brailsford, Maureen Barber, Dawn Wyer, Jacqueline Hale, Margaret Worsey, all who have helped the school either by fundraising or voluntary work in the school;  Alan Rowe who has been organising and leading Somercotes Walking Group activities for six and a half years;  Prince’s Trust Team 128 who are based at the Somerlea Centre, and is made up of ten unemployed young people who have been fundraising for a project at Riddings Infant School;

John McCabe for his work in the local community, from flipping burgers at the Summer Fair to helping represent local residents as a Borough and Parish Councillor; the newly formed Somercotes Scout Group for their work encouraging  young people to serve their  community.
